India invites investors to RE

Over US$ 64 billion invested in RE India so far! Be a part of India’s renewable energy journey   The Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Steel Shri Dharmendra Pradhan has invited investors, developers and businesses to be a part of India’s renewable energy journey, assuring them that it will be a highly rewarding and mutually beneficial venture. In the Valedictory Address at the 3rd RE-Invest 2020, he said that India is progressively becoming a favoured destination for investment in renewables. During the last 6 years, over US$ 64 billion investment has been made in renewable energy in India.   Shri Pradhan said that India has a very liberal FDI policy in energy sector, including renewables. “Foreign investors can either invest on their own or enter into joint ventures with an Indian partner for financial and/or technical collaboration for setting up of renewable energy-based power generation projects.”, he said. By 2022 share of RE will expand to 220 GW

India eye on global manufacturing hub stature by 2026   The 3rd Global Re-Invest Renewable Energy Investors Meet & Expo, organised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, will be held from 26 & up to 28 November 2020 on a Virtual platform.   India is one of the largest producers of renewable energy. Currently, the renewable capacity of India is 136 GW, which is 36% of the total capacity of the country. The Indian Govt has targeted solar projects for houses by 2022. As of September 2020, 89.22 GW of RE (Renewable Energy) is already operational, projects of 48.21 GW are at various stages of implementation and projects of 25.64 GW capacities are under various stages of bidding. BIS standards revised for two wheeler helmets!   The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways through S.O. 4252 (E) dated 26th November 2020 has issued the ‘Helmet for riders of Two Wheeler  Motor Vehicles (Quality Control) Order, 2020.’Protective Helmets for Two Wheeler Riders have been included under compulsory BIS certification and the publication of the Quality Control Order. As per the directions of the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety for considering lighter helmets in India suiting the country's climatic conditions and that for ensuring compliance amongst citizen to wear the helmets, a Committee was formulated.  The Committee had experts from different fields, including expert doctors from AIIMS and also from BIS. The Committee in March 2018 after detailed analysis in its report recommended lighter helmets in the Country, and Ministry accepted the report.   As per the recommendations of the Committee, the BIS have revised specifications through which it is expected to
